The rapporteur for tax reform regulation in the Senate, Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM)began reading its opinion at the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), after the president of the collegiate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), opened the session around noon this Tuesday (10).

According to Alcolumbre, to date, 2,029 amendments have been presented to the text and 30 still require analysis by the rapporteur.

Braga would have read the opinion on Monday (9), but the senator who presided over the session, Marcos Rogério (PL-RO)suspended the act on the grounds of lack of quorum.

The opinion of the rapporteur, senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM), increased the discount on Value Added Tax (VAT) for rental operations to 70%. The text approved by the Chamber provided for a 60% discount

Before reading the opinion, Braga thanked the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)who, according to him, “sought to mitigate and arbitrate diffuse interests”, and to the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT)who “was very important in the creation of the report”.

“We will approve a new technology, a new methodology”, stated Braga. “These are tools like no other in the world, which will form the backbone of the reform. The success of the reform will largely depend on the effectiveness of these systems during the testing period.”
