Carla Zambelli complains about impeachment trial ‘in the middle of Friday the 13th’
After the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE-SP) formed a majority for the impeachment and ineligibility of Carla Zambelli, the federal deputy for the PL reacted to the judgment. In the defense note, the parliamentarian’s office says that Zambelli “draws attention to something very serious”: the assessment of her case on a Friday the 13th. “It is interesting that this trial occurred on a Friday the 13th, a date known for the persecution of Christian Templars ordered by the French king Philip IV”, he wrote.
The statement was made in a note sent to Estadão. In the text, the parliamentarian also stated that “God’s justice is acting” and that “nothing has changed” with the TRE trial. “For now, the majority is in favor of my impeachment. But this can still be reversed with the request for review that was made. Let us move forward, always with a lot of faith”, he said.
This Friday, TRE-SP judged an Electoral Judicial Investigation Action (Aije) proposed by federal deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL) against Zambelli.

At the trial, the case’s rapporteur, judge José Antonio Encinas Manfré, voted for the revocation of the diploma and the ineligibility of the PL parliamentarian.
According to the rapporteur, Zambelli published content that sought to discredit the electoral system and disseminate false information.
The rapporteur’s vote was followed by judges Silmar Fernandes, president of TRE-SP, Cotrim Guimarães and Claudio Langroiva.
As a result, the São Paulo Electoral Court formed a majority to impeach the deputy, as four of the seven judges that make up the panel were in favor of the impeachment.
However, the trial was suspended after a request for a review from judge Maria Cláudia Bedotti.
The votes of judges Régis de Castilho and Rogério Cury still remain.
Furthermore, an appeal may be made to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
