Voting on receipt of the complaint against Bolsonaro is on Wednesday

The first day of the judgment of the complaint against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other allies, denounced for involvement in alleged attempted coup, ended without the definition of the receipt or not of the complaint. The sessions took place in the morning and afternoon.

During the morning session, lawyers of the eight accused filed their defenses, contesting the accusations. In the afternoon, the ministers rejected all preliminaries raised by the defenses, such as procedural issues and requests for nullity.

The analysis of these procedural issues was the initial stage of the trial that will decide whether the accused will formally become defendants, based on the evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

With the rejection of the preliminaries, the trial will continue tomorrow, starting at 9:30 am. At this point, the ministers will vote for the acceptance or not of the complaint presented by the PGR, which may result in the establishment of a criminal case.
