The ministry attributed “denialism” to the Bolsonaro government and made reference to the management of Covid-19. “We increased resources for science by 5 times and our policy is based on scientific knowledge and not on fake news for the population, which took hundreds of thousands of Brazilian lives in the pandemic”, says an excerpt from the note.

In the note, the government talks about “resuming the strategic insertion” of Anvisa, but does not promise to hire more employees. In the letter he wrote in response to Lula, Barra Torres stated that only 50 vacancies were released out of the 120 available for public competition to fill the agency’s staff.

With an insufficient number of workers and work tasks that only increase, the time to carry out such tasks can only become longer. Our work is person-dependent. If there are not enough people working, the work takes longer to deliver results
Antonio Barra Torres, president of Anvisa, about the lack of employees at the agency
