Anvisa bans decorative glitter with plastic used in cakes and sweets
List of suspended products is large. From Glitz and Jady Confeitos, the targets are products that have the same name for both brands, “Glitter for Decoration”; from Jeni and Joni, Anvisa lists Glitter/Glitter for Decoration, Decoration Powder, Gold Dust, Gold Flake, Silver Flake and Rose Gold Flake; and from Iceberg Chef, the suspended products are Glitter Glow and Glitter Shine.
Companies are responsible for collecting copies from the market. According to Anvisa, anyone who has already purchased any of the products should contact the manufacturer and request information on how the return can be made.
Iceberg took a stand saying that it never marketed the product as edible. In a statement, the company also stated that it removed Shine Glitter from the line before Anvisa’s determination and made available to customers the possibility of exchanging it for the Shine food line.
Facto News contacted the other companies and awaits their positions. As soon as they are sent, this text will be updated.
Reports on the networks motivated the decision
Active search started after posts on social media. Anvisa began inspecting products that are sold as edible glitter and has so far identified 16 brands that offer it. In the four suspended this Tuesday, plastic materials were found. The others remain under investigation.
