Boulos associates Nunes with Bolsonaro and cites the mayor’s alleged aggression against his wife
The federal deputy Guilherme BoulosPSOL candidate for mayor of São Paulo (SP), celebrated going to the second round of the election in the capital of São Paulo. On October 27th, he will face the mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB)candidate for re-election.
In a speech alongside his candidate for vice-president, former mayor Marta Suplicy (PT), Boulos celebrated the vote obtained in the first round of the election and reinforced Nunes’ closeness to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“In this second round there will also be a choice at stake. On the other side, we have the candidate supported by Bolsonaro. The candidate who believes that Bolsonaro did everything right during the pandemic. The candidate who now, in the first round, was against the vaccine. Who believes that January 8th was just a meeting of ladies, and not an attempted coup”, said Boulos.
“I want to talk to those who didn’t vote for us in the first round. The huge majority of the people of São Paulo voted for the change. And now, in this second round, that is what will be at stake. If you think that São Paulo is a safe city, if you think that São Paulo is doing well in the SUS, without queues at healthcare, that the buses are not crowded, you agree with our opponent”, continued the PSOL candidate.
“If you want to change, improve safety, health and transport, you come with me and Marta. This is what will be at stake in this second round”, added the deputy.
In his speech to the activists, Boulos also said that he has the mission of “presenting a project for social justice, for a more humane city, that is for everyone”.
Nunes and Boulos go to the 2nd round in the dispute for mayor in São Paulo
In an electrifying dispute, candidates supported by Jair Bolsonaro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva leave Pablo Marçal behind
“São Paulo is a powerful city. It is the richest in Brazil and Latin America. Our mission is to make this wealth reach everyone. It was the outskirts of the city that took us to the second round”, he stated.
According to Boulos, “a fairer, more equal city is a more civilized and safer city”. “Fighting inequalities is good for everyone. Our project is to create a city for everyone”, said the PSOL candidate.
Nunes’ alleged assault on his wife
In his first statement after securing himself in the second round, Guilherme Boulos once again cited Nunes’ alleged aggression against his wife, which both men denied.
In February 2011, Regina Carnovale Nunes reportedly filed a police report against Nunes, who was a councilor at the time, at the 6th Women’s Police Station, in the south zone of São Paulo. In 2020, in an interview with the newspaper The State of S. Paulohowever, the wife of the current mayor said she did not remember making the police report. Nunes has always denied that he attacked Regina.
“Over there, we have someone with a very suspicious trajectory. I’m sure that, in the debates of this second round, he will have a lot of difficulty saying what he did in the past summers”, hinted Boulos.
“Someone even has to respond to a police report for violence against women. That’s what’s at stake.”
Boulos promised that, from January 2025, if elected mayor, “we will guarantee that half of the departments in São Paulo are headed by women. “This is a commitment from me and Marta”, he concluded.
