Ciro Nogueira says Trump ‘cannot be revered all the time’

The former minister of the Civil House of the Jair Bolsonaro government and president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), criticized this Wednesday, 22nd, the statement by North American president Donald Trump regarding “not needing” Brazil. An ally of Bolsonaro, the senator described Trump’s speech as “contempt” for the country and suggested that he must be treated “as an equal” if Brazil wants the American’s respect.
Trump’s statement occurred in the first minutes sitting at the table in the Oval Office of the White House this Monday, the 20th.
When questioned by the journalist from Globonews Raquel Krähenbühl about her perspective regarding relations with Latin America and, specifically, with Brazil, Trump responded: “They should be great. They need us. Much more than we need them. We don’t need them. They need us. Everyone needs us.”

The republican did not answer the Brazilian’s question whether he intended to meet with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
In the comments of the publication, Bolsonarists mocked the senator’s opinion. “Lacrou, friend!” joked a follower. Others said they agreed with Trump, and blamed the government and the “Senate’s omission” for Brazil’s image not having greater credibility.
Former president Jair Bolsonaro’s son, Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who went to Washington to attend the inauguration, also endorsed Trump’s speech. On his profile on X (formerly Twitter), the federal deputy published an excerpt from the interview this Wednesday, stating that “stating the obvious only shocks those who cannot see reality”.
“Honestly, do people leave the USA to live in Brazil or is it the other way around? Do US authorities seek to attend the inauguration of Brazilian presidents or is it the opposite?” he asked.
