Deputy from Novo says he suffered “sapatenisphobia” and deputy mocks
Federal deputy Gilson Marques (Novo-SC) came out in defense of shoes during a session in the Chamber of Deputies, this Wednesday, 5th, amid a discussion with deputy Duda Salabert (PDT-MG).
During the argument, the parliamentarian called Gilson a representative of “bolsonarism in sneakers”. The exchange of barbs occurred during the vote on a bill that creates education measures against climate disasters.
The clash began after the Novo party defended the removal of the term “climate justice” from the project text. Marques argued that the proposal would place the power to define the teaching of the concept in the hands of the government, through guidelines from the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Tarcísio says that the operation in Rio was “well planned” and that “there were no stray bullets”
Governor of São Paulo did not mention the at least three injured by stray bullets in the mega operation
“This is just a cue, an excuse to tell children, schools, what the government wants. What it wants this to be and, in the end, it’s just about putting more power in the pen to have more powers and take more money from the population, with the justification that it is promoting something that no one knows what it is: climate justice”, declared the deputy.
In response, Duda Salabert, author of the proposal, countered by stating that education is at the center of climate management and problems.
“Look what a shame, the Novo party, which is a ‘bolsonarism in sneakers’, wants to remove climate justice from the text. There is no social justice without climate justice. So, we guide the maintenance of the text and make clear our repudiation of this tiny party called the Novo party”, said the deputy.
Next, Marques stated that he has the right to “wear any shoes he wants”, just as, according to him, the parliamentarian has the freedom to make her aesthetic choices.
“The deputy who preceded me, Duda, who is from (Carlos) Lupi’s party, the pensioners’ theft scandal, criticized the choice of some Novo members who supposedly wear sneakers. Then Duda, who everyone knows about the aesthetic choices she uses. Just look at her clothes to know how much is positive and how much is negative. I want to wear any footwear I want, just as she can wear any clothes she wants”, he stated.
After the session, the parliamentarian defended the shoes on social media and claimed to have been a victim of “shoephobia”.
In a new response, Duda Salabert stated that the speech was misinterpreted by Gilson Marques.
“It’s a metaphor, everyone knows. I’m trying to say that the Novo party is Bolsonarist, but with a different outfit, a different packaging, more gourmet – a pair of sneakers. It was ironic. But the Novo party deputies didn’t understand the metaphor, they didn’t understand the sarcasm and took the phrase literally, thinking I was criticizing people who wear sneakers”, countered the deputy.
