Fiscal package: PT president says there is concern about changes in the BPC

The national president of PT, Gleisi Hoffmannstated that “there are concerns” in the party regarding changes in the rules for accessing the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC), proposed in the Ministry of Finance’s tax package.
The statements were made this Saturday (7), after a closed meeting of the PT national directory, in Brasília (DF), where the leadership held a vote on the party’s new political resolution.
At the time, Gleisi said that measures related to the BPC should combat fraud, rather than taking away constitutional rights. According to her, the PT bench in the National Congress should meet to discuss the issue in the coming days.
“We’re going to start debating this week with the bench, right? But there are concerns, mainly in relation to the BPC. So, several people raised this concern. It is important that the measures in relation to the BPC are measures to correct fraud, deviations, but not the removal of rights provided for in the Constitution”, he stated.
According to her, the party should include some section about the BPC in the political resolution, but, at the time of the interview with journalists, the directory was still debating the issue. “It must be (in the document), we will debate it now, in the amendments”, concluded Gleisi.
