Haddad calls for popular pressure for Congress to approve exemption from going to $ 5,000

Finance Minister Fernando Haddad took advantage of a Free Market Logistics Center in Cajamar (SP) to instigate popular pressure for the approval of the project that provides for exemption from income tax to salaries of up to R $ 5,000.
“We sent a project to the National Congress, and it is important for you to talk to the deputy, the deputy, the senator, senator, whom you voted for, who you trust,” said the minister when speaking to Free Market workers.
The Finance Minister pointed out that, once the project is approved, the income tax exemption may represent, by the end of a year, the fourteenth salary, depending on the worker’s income range. Haddad defended in his speech the taxation of high income to compensate for the government’s resignation by expanding the income tax exemption range, so that no resources to social programs are not lacking.

“That’s why the law determines that there is compensation. And it is very cool for you to stop to think about the compensation we designed. The compensation is: who earns more than $ 1 million per year – that is, $ 100,000 per month – will pay 10% income tax,” said Haddad.
The minister stressed that the collection of 141,000 Brazilians with monthly income over R $ 100,000 will benefit 10 million people who earn up to R $ 5,000, and another 5 million who receive up to R $ 7 thousand, benefited by discounts in the tax.
“You see how unequal and unfair this country is. Charging a minimum of 141,000 we will favor 15 million people. It’s as if for each payer you had 100 Brazilians benefited. This is the equation we closed,” Haddad pointed out.
Haddad also spoke about the payroll loans launched by the government to those who work in the private sector, emphasizing that, without the instrument, workers would have to pay two to three times more than it would be reasonable to have access to credit. Public banks, as Haddad pointed out, are lending in this modality at 2.5%. “When the competition from private banks enter and the thing gets stronger, we can have even lower rates,” said the minister.
