Hospitalized with infection, Pope has lost part of his lung for over 60 years

Earlier, a Vatican spokesman had reported that the Pope was in a stable condition, had slept well and had breakfast. However, the medical report reinforced the severity of the condition, not to mention whether the pontiff still has fever, a symptom that had been treated since the beginning of the hospitalization.
Hospitalized for four days
Francisco was hospitalized on Friday (14) to treat persistent bronchitis, which affects him since early February. In recent days, the Pope has presented respiratory difficulties and had to delegate the reading of speeches to advisors during celebrations.
This is the Pope’s fourth hospitalization since taking the pontificate in 2013. Francisco has a history of breathing problems.
In recent months, the pontiff has suffered two falls at his Vatican residence. In December, he hit his chin at the bedside table, and in January, he injured his right arm, needing to immobilize him as a precaution. In addition, it has chronic knee pains that force you to use wheelchair or cane on occasion.
Despite health limitations, Francisco has insisted on maintaining appointments and even held meetings on Friday before being hospitalized. Even with these challenges, the pontiff has already stated that if his health prevents him from fulfilling his duties, he will consider the resignation, following the example of Benedict 16.
