In a statement to the PF, Mauro Cid says that the lawyer got confused when talking about Bolsonaro
In yet another statement given to the Federal Police (PF), on Thursday afternoon (5), lieutenant colonel Mauro Cidformer aide-de-camp to the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL)stated that he has no way of knowing whether the former president was aware of the plan to assassinate the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)the vice president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and the minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The military officer was summoned to provide further clarifications about the alleged attempted coup d’état, which led to the opening of an investigation by the PF – in which Cid and Bolsonaro are among the 37 indicted.
The PF requested more information from Mauro Cid after his lawyer, Cezar Bittencourt, said, in an interview with GloboNewsthat Bolsonaro was aware of the plan. “In fact, the president at the time knew everything, he commanded this organization”, stated the defender.
In the same interview, however, Bittencourt departed and stated that he had not referred to a “death plan”. “He obviously knew something, but what is a plan? The plan has a lot of development”, he tried to explain.

The investigators wanted to hear from Mauro Cid again and find out why he did not address the matter in a previous statement to Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
According to information from columnist Igor Gadelha, from the portal Metropolisesthe lieutenant colonel told delegate Fábio Shor that his lawyer had been “confused” with the questions during the interview with GloboNews.
Bittencourt, who accompanied Cid in the testimony, would have confirmed that he was confused, according to reports from PF sources.
In Thursday’s testimony, Mauro Cid reaffirmed that he did not know of any plan to kill Lula, Alckmin and Moraes.
The testimony of Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp lasted just under two hours. Upon leaving the PF, Mauro Cid did not want to speak to journalists.

The lieutenant colonel’s new testimony came two weeks after Mauro Cid was interrogated by minister Alexandre de Moraes. At the time, the magistrate maintained the validity of the soldier’s plea bargain to the PF.
In his statement to Moraes, Cid stated that he did not know about the plan for an alleged coup d’état in Brazil.
Mauro Cid is one of 37 people indicted by the PF in the investigation investigating the alleged coup plot in 2022, at the end of the Bolsonaro government. The PF report was forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which will be responsible for whether or not to present any possible complaint.
Cid was arrested, but ended up released after closing the plea bargain. The lieutenant colonel has already given at least 11 statements during the investigations.
