In China, Mauro Vieira sees partnership with country “more relevant than ever”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, said, this Monday (1st), that the strategic partnership between Brazil and China becomes more relevant than ever “amid the current international turbulence”. The Brazilian chancellor is in Beijing for the 5th Global Strategic Dialogue.
In a meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, the Brazilian minister called for greater access for Brazilian products to the Chinese market and the guarantee of a stable supply of Chinese fertilizers to Brazil. Mauro Vieira also met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to Itamaraty, China has been Brazil’s main trading partner since 2009 and absorbs 27% of Brazilian exports. “In 2025, bilateral trade reached US$ 170.9 billion, which meant the 10th consecutive year of record”, pointed out the government in a post on social media. The visit also takes place in the context of the celebrations of the Brazil-China Cultural Year.

Investments from China
Vieira highlighted that Brazil is open to new Chinese investments in industrial modernization, energy transition and high technology. In 2025, Brazil celebrated its position as the world’s largest destination for direct productive investments from China.
The Brazilian minister and the Chinese vice-president agreed that there had been multiple progress in the bilateral relationship between the countries. In fact, countries no longer charge visas for short-term trips. This is considered by diplomacy to be an instrument for bringing the two peoples together and promoting tourist flows.
