Israeli Minister regrets Mamdani’s election in NY: ‘Enemy of the Jews’
“The city that was once a symbol of freedom in the world handed over its keys to a supporter of the (Palestinian Islamist movement) Hamas,” the Israeli minister for the Diaspora and the fight against Anti-Semitism, Amichai Chikli, wrote in X.
“New York will never be the same again, especially for its Jewish community,” he added. “I invite the Jews of New York to seriously consider establishing their new home in the Land of Israel.”
Mamdani’s positions on Israel, which he described as an “apartheid regime” and accused of committing “genocide” in Gaza, provoked outrage in some sectors of the Jewish community.
Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, known for his far-right views, supported Chikli.
“Anti-Semitism has overcome common sense. Mamdani is a supporter of Hamas, an enemy of Israel and a declared anti-Semite,” Ben Gvir said in a statement.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, intervened in the final stretch of the campaign to call Mamdani an “enemy of the Jews” and called anyone who voted for him “stupid.”
