Italy questions feasibility of ICC arrest warrant against Netanyahu
Italy said on Tuesday that there are “many doubts” about the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, assessing that it would not be feasible to arrest him while he remains in charge of the government.
Italy, which currently chairs the Group of Seven (G7), hosted a meeting of foreign ministers that resulted in a final statement without direct mention of the ICC’s arrest warrants against Israeli and Hamas leaders.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who tried to establish a common position among G7 members on the issue, said that Rome has many doubts about the legality of the warrants and that it is necessary to be clear whether senior State officials have immunity from arrest. .
