More than 3,500 people have died in Lebanon since October 2023. The data was released by the Lebanese Ministry of Health on Monday (18).

Despite the more than 200 children killed in Lebanon in less than two months, a disconcerting pattern has emerged: the deaths face the inaction of those who have the means to end this violence.

No prediction for the end of the war

Israel claims that bombings of Lebanon are carried out targeting Hezbollah. According to the Israeli Army, the attacks are intended to “allow around 60,000 citizens to return to the Israeli north, from where they had to be displaced due to the risk of attacks by the Lebanese group.”

There is no forecast of a ceasefire agreement. The conflict has been going on for months, with intense bombings against the capital Beirut, and areas close to the international airport. Areas of Syria also have records of bombings with deaths.

The United States, Israel’s main ally, has recently expressed concern about the new attacks. “You have heard us say repeatedly that we do not want to see these types of (military) operations in Beirut, especially in densely populated areas,” State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said.
