Moraes authorizes Mauro Cid to travel to Sao Paulo for his daughter’s competition

Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized on Monday, 31, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former Jair Bolsonaro (PL) orders, traveling to Sao Paulo between April 1 to accompany a sports competition of his daughter. Cid became a defendant for attempted coup d’état after decision of the first class of the court.
Cid called for permission to travel to the state capital to accompany his daughter’s award in the “Young Knight” category, by the Brazilian Equestrian Confederation, and participate in a competition that will take place inside the São Paulo Jockey Club.
In the decision, Moraes pointed out that the authorization “does not dispense with the applicant from compliance with other precautionary measures” already imposed, such as the prohibition of maintaining contact with other investigated and not using social networks. The minister also determined that the Federal District Penitentiary Administration send to the Supreme Court, within 48 hours after the return, a detailed report of electronic anklet monitoring for the period of the trip.

Mauro Cid was arrested in May 2023, accused of participating in a fraud scheme to enter false covid-19 vaccination data in the Ministry of Health system. He was released that year after signing an award-winning plea agreement with the Federal Police.
According to the investigations, ICD would have contributed to the scammer draft and participated in the planning of violent actions alongside the military of the Special Forces. He would also have been present at meetings that discussed possible attacks against President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.
Lawyer Mauro Cezar Bitencourt stated that Cid acted with “dignity” and “grande” being only the whistleblower in the process and had no central role in the crimes investigated.
