PF asks Gilson Machado’s investigation for trying to issue a passport to Cid

The Federal Police (PF) has called for an investigation to find out if former Minister Gilson Machado Neto acted to try to get a Portuguese passport for Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid and facilitate a possible departure from the country.
The measure was interpreted as a possible attempt to disrupt the progress of the coup plot’s criminal action, as Cid is one of the defendants. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) agreed with the investigation. The former minister denies acting in favor of Cid and said he sought the consulate to deal with a family issue.

The PF gathered evidence that Gilson sought the Portuguese Consulate in Recife, where he lives, to get the Cid passport, but was unsuccessful. There is a suspicion, however, that he can look for other embassies or consulates with the same goal so that the lieutenant colonel leaves the country.

He recently started a resource collection campaign for Bolsonaro. In a statement to the PF last week, the former president stated that the campaign was made without his knowledge and that Machado raised R $ 1 million.
