Repatriation of Brazilians in Lebanon should begin at the weekend
The federal government is expected to begin the repatriation operation of Brazilians from Lebanon this weekend, with the removal of around 3 thousand people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Tuesday (1).
The operation should have between 10 and 15 flights, depending on the number of Brazilians who confirm their intention to leave the country, and whether the airport in the capital, Beirut, remains open.
The Brazilian community in Lebanon is approximately 20 thousand people, but so far 3 thousand are asking for support for repatriation. This number may increase as the operation progresses, or decrease if some of these people manage to leave by their own means.

According to the government, “the Embassy in Lebanon is taking the necessary measures to make the operation viable, in permanent contact with the Brazilian community and in close coordination with local authorities”
Israeli troops enter Lebanon in “limited ground operation” against Hezbollah
Israel said on Monday night that it had begun “targeted ground incursions” in southern Lebanon
The operation was authorized on Monday by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, after a conversation with Chancellor Mauro Vieira, who was in New York and met the president on Sunday, in Mexico, where Lula is taking part in the inauguration of the elected president, Claudia. Sheinbaum.
Itamaraty had been working with possible scenarios and surveying the necessary structure to remove the Brazilians, but needed confirmation from the president.
In Mexico, Lula stated that the withdrawal of Brazilians is important and Brazil will carry out repatriation operations wherever necessary, but he again criticized the Israeli government.
“What I deeply regret is the behavior of the Israeli government. It is honestly inexplicable that the United Nations council does not have the moral and political authority to make Israel sit at a table to talk, instead of killing.”
This Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government began incursions of troops on land into southern Lebanon, in the border area with Israel, in attacks on the Hezbollah group. Previously, during last week and the weekend, bombings were carried out in the same region and in Beirut. In the attacks, two Brazilian teenagers died.
