Russia broke into Ukraine in February 2022. US President Donald Trump, who took office on January 20, has been pressured by the end of the war amid rapid US rapidly with Moscow that alarmed Kiev and European allies.

“After our meeting (in Saudi Arabia) (…) The Russians detailed a number of conditions they want to see for this, so let’s evaluate this,” Rubio told reporters on Wednesday during a visit to Jamaica.

He said American authorities should work to “better understand what the Russian position is, or what they are asking in return, and then we will present this to the president (Trump)” to make a decision about the next step.

Russia’s demands are well known. The conditions listed in a Kremlin statement on Tuesday-including raising restrictions and sanctions to a large agricultural bank, food exporters and fertilizers and Russian vessels-widely reflecting Moscow’s demands for two years during negotiations to extend a Black Sea agreement for the first time in July 2022.

Russian requirements

The 2022 agreement was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey to allow safe export of Ukrainian grains by the Black Sea. In a three -year pact that accompanies him, the UN agreed to help facilitate Russian food and fertilizer exports.
