The Federal Supreme Court (STF) sentenced Santa Catarina businessman Alcides Hahn to 14 years in prison in a closed regime for transferring R$500 to pay for a chartered bus that took protesters from Blumenau (SC) to Brasília on January 8, 2023.
He is responsible for the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, deterioration of listed public property and criminal association.
The decision was handed down on March 2nd. The defense filed an appeal that would be judged on the 20th, but was removed from the agenda. In addition to Hahn, two other men were convicted of financing the bus.

According to the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office, Rene Afonso Mahnke transferred R$1,000 and Vilamir Valmor Romanoski, R$10,000. Romanoski, however, was identified by the PGR as a “leading figure” in favor of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in Blumenau.
According to information from UOL, in a hearing, Alcides reported that he made the Pix at the request of an acquaintance, who had asked to borrow money to travel, without informing the destination. The owner of the bus company, in turn, stated that, when identifying the transfer, he assumed that the value referred to the charter of the trip to Brasília.
The businessman’s defense denied that the amount transferred was intended to finance the bus or that Alcides was aware of the possible crime.
