Tarcisio returns to blame Lula by Trump’s fare and waves with pardon to Bolsonaro

Tarcísio's deputy says that candidacy for the Planalto “increasingly consolidated”

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), again held responsible President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) for the 50% tariff imposed by the United States on Brazilian products.

In an interview with journalists on Thursday (10), Tarcisio said that Brazilian diplomacy still has time to reverse the decision by August, when the measure should come into force.

The governor also admitted the negative impact of taxation on the São Paulo economy-especially on industry-and took the opportunity to send an indirect message to the Supreme Federal Court (STF), aligning himself with the rhetoric of former President Donald Trump, who accused the Brazilian judiciary of promoting a “witch hunt” against Jair Bolsonaro.

“We have a number of postures that do not match our democratic tradition. Brazil needs to sit at the table and solve the problem of tariffs,” said Tarcisio when asked about the STF’s performance.

“The tariff is deleterious, especially for states with production of higher added value, such as São Paulo,” he said, quoting Embraer as one of the affected companies.

Tarcisio also declared to believe Bolsonaro’s innocence, but said that in the event of a conviction, it will be up to the center-right field to offer a solution. “If necessary, I’m sure any candidate in this block will grant a pardon. This will be seen as a pacification factor.”
