Venezuela disqualifies statements by attorney general and reinforces respect for Lula

CARACAS (Reuters) – Venezuela’s foreign ministry on Tuesday reaffirmed its “absolute respect” for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and said that the statements by the Venezuelan attorney general, who accused him of having become a “CIA agent” , are of a “very personal” nature.
Prosecutor Tarek Saab said in a television interview that Lula, as well as the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, were spokesmen “for a left” that represented US intelligence in the region.
“The recent statements made by the Attorney General of the Republic about President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (…) do not at any time reflect the position of the federal government, responsible for Venezuelan foreign policy,” wrote Chancellor Yván Gil on the messaging platform Telegram.
