What is the Chair of St. Peter, wooden throne from which Papa ‘rules’

Pope does not sip the throne literally, but expression is considered as symbolism. “In Catholic doctrine, it refers to the moment when the Pope, as the successor of St. Peter and the supreme leader of the Church, pronounces on issues of faith or morals with infallible authority. This infallibility is guaranteed, according to the Catholic faith, by the Holy Spirit who guides the Pope,” says the theologian.
Pope Francis visited Pedro’s throne
Pope Francis had a meeting with the chair of Pedro. According to Vatican News, in October last year, the Pontiff visited the work after the opening mass of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Bishops Synod.
After restoration, the seat traditionally attributed to St. Peter was temporarily removed from the reliquary and presented to pontiff. Built between 1657 and 1666, the work involves the old throne, creating a scene in which the Holy Spirit hangs over the chair, symbolically sustained by four doctors of the church.
The restoration is part of the preparation for the Jubilee. Current works aim to preserve the integrity of the work during the special celebrations of the Catholic Church.
The gesture reinforces the link with Peter. At the time, the Holy See’s press room reported that the Pope was able to observe the relic carefully, reinforcing his mission as Peter’s successor.
