It is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bear costs with body transport. Brazilian law does not allow the government to pay for expenses.

Article 257 of Decree 9,199/2017 vetoes the payment of expenses. Brazil only assists in monitoring accidents, location and repatriation of Brazilians and cases of conflicts and natural disasters, but does not indicate financial disposition for this.

Consular assistance does not comprise the cost of burial and transfer of national bodies and transfer from abroad, nor hospitalization expenses, except for medical items and emergency care in humanitarian situations.

Juliana’s family prepares procedures for transporting the body. It will be in charge of relatives to fund the deal and transport of the Brazilian remains.

Facto News tries to contact Juliana Marins’s family. If there is an answer, this text will be updated.

Juliana’s body will go through an expertise in a hospital on the island of Lombok, where the volcano is located. The family awaits the determining causes for death and the exact time of the event.
