After record deaths, government anticipates campaign against dengue

The vaccine will have a “progressive” rollout, said Nísia. “These doses, last year, were agreed with states and municipalities, based on data, how they would be distributed. This year, we will still make this agreement. There are 9 million doses, also considering this scenario study.”

The government should also experiment with the use of spreading sterile mosquitoes in indigenous areas. “We are going to create the aedes aegypti biofactory with volbáquia (bacteria capable of nullifying the dengue virus), so that we can also spread it in indigenous villages”, stated Nísia.

If God helps, we want to have the summer with the least dengue in the history of this country. Every summer we are victimized by the growth of dengue fever and other diseases. And, this time, with the climate issue evolving so that the planet becomes warmer, we decided to bring forward the launch of our campaign.
Lula, President of the Republic

The time, now, is to care, to prevent and avoid, but we are aware that it cannot be resolved (only with prevention), that it is a problem that we will improve, there is no doubt.
Nísia Trindade, Minister of Health
