In the attack carried out by Iran against Israel this Tuesday (1st), Iranian forces used the Fattah-2 missile, announced at the end of last year.

What happened

Missile is hypersonic and remotely guided. At its launch, Iranian state media described the weapon as “a state-of-the-art missile capable of gliding” and which “underscores Iran’s position as one of four countries in the world capable of manufacturing this type of hypersonic weapon.” The rocket can hit targets up to 1,400 kilometers from where it is launched, and travel between five and 15 times faster than the speed of sound, which makes it very difficult for current defense systems to intercept.

Weaponry was used to destroy Israeli radars. Iran’s government-affiliated Mehr news agency said the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 radars were destroyed by Fattah-2 missiles. Furthermore, state media indicated that Fattah missiles, the first version of the Fattah-2, were used to attack Israeli military bases, and that they reached them in less than 15 minutes after their launch. Israel says it intercepted most of the 180 missiles launched with US help.
