‘We stayed in the bunker, one siren after another’, says Brazilian in Israel

'We stayed in the bunker, one siren after another', says Brazilian in Israel

What we see is a deterioration in society due to the war in Gaza. The majority of the population was already in favor of a ceasefire. With the conflict in Lebanon, the situation is different: on October 8, Hezbollah breaks the ceasefire, it attacks Israel in support of Hamas. During this entire period, the entire population living on the northern border was forced to leave their homes, and we have around 60 thousand people taking refuge inside Israel. The Israeli population, as a whole, is (more) supportive of the war in Lebanon than in relation to Gaza.

‘Even with attacks, I feel safe in Israel’

The alert measures for the population of Israel also bring a feeling of relative tranquility, said Brazilian tourist guide Ilan Ejzykowicz, who lives in Tel Aviv, during the Facto News News.

Ejzykowicz said he was with a group of around 50 people when all cell phones, even those without internet, received an alert warning of Iranian attacks. They took shelter in a bookstore.

It took about 15 minutes, and then we heard the boom. We had another cell phone notification saying there was a new attack on the way. (…) At the hotel, our phones rang again, and we could take shelter in a more comfortable place. People were calm due to the defense system, but there was an anxiety situation there considering that the group had children and a pregnant woman.
