The Petrobras discovery in Colombia

Petrobras announced the discovery of natural gas deposits in the Caribbean Sea that could double Colombia’s reserves.

According to the general manager of Exploratory Assets at Petrobras, Rogério Soares, it is the biggest find since the 1970s. The reserves are estimated at 170 million cubic meters, enough to supply the Andean country for 15 years.

Petrobras has a 44% stake in the Tayrona block exploration project, 32 kilometers off the Colombian coast. The rest belongs to the state-owned company Ecopetrol.
