Iranian foreign minister says he ‘supports efforts’ for simultaneous truce in Lebanon and Gaza
Tehran “supports efforts” aimed at achieving a simultaneous ceasefire with Israel in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Friday (4) during a visit to Beirut.
“We support efforts for a ceasefire, on condition that, first of all, the rights of the Lebanese people are respected and that it is accepted by the resistance,” Abbas Araqchi said at a press conference, referring to the Hezbollah movement.
“Secondly, it must occur simultaneously with a ceasefire in Gaza,” he added, in the first visit to Lebanon by an Iranian minister since the September 27 assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli bombing raid.
