Bolivian police arrest father of minor allegedly abused by Evo Morales
The parents are named in an investigation carried out by the Public Ministry against Morales for “rape, smuggling and human trafficking”.
The scandal dates back to the time when the coca leader was president, in 2015. Morales was allegedly involved with a minor under the age of 15, with whom he had a daughter in 2016, according to the complaint that is being investigated by the Public Ministry.
The defense of the former president, the first indigenous person to govern Bolivia between 2006 and 2019, claims that the case has already been analyzed and archived by the courts in 2020.
The new case was opened by the prosecutor of the Tarija department, Sandra Gutiérrez.
The official ordered Morales’ arrest on September 26, but the order was overturned a few days later by a judge who accepted the appeal.
Neither Morales nor the alleged victim’s parents responded to the MP’s summons, which left open the possibility of the former ruler being detained to face the accusation.
