Marielle’s murder: in testimony, Chiquinho Brazão denies knowing Ronnie Lessa
The federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão (no party-RJ) gave testimony, this Monday (21), to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), as a defendant in the criminal action that deals with the murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes, which occurred in March 2018, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
Brazão is imprisoned in the federal penitentiary in Campo Grande (MS) and is identified in the investigations as one of the perpetrators of the murder, according to the plea bargain of former police officer Ronnie Lessa, a confessed defendant in carrying out the firearm shots at the councilwoman. .
In his statement given to judge Airton Vieira, assistant magistrate to minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the criminal case, Chiquinho Brazão cried when talking about his family and stated that he never had personal contact with Lessa.
“I have no doubt that he could know me, but I have no memory of being with that person,” he said.
Regarding Marielle Franco, the parliamentarian said he had an “excellent” relationship with the councilor. According to him, she had a “bright future”.
“What they did was evil. Marielle had a bright future. She was a very kind councilor,” said Brazão.
In addition to Chiquinho, Domingos Brazão, Chiquinho’s brother, is also a defendant in the STF; the former head of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro Rivaldo Barbosa; and Military Police Major Ronald Paulo de Alves Pereira.
All are responsible for the crimes of homicide and criminal organization and are arrested by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF.
