Man sues McDonald’s for infection after bacteria outbreak in US

Dozens of people fell ill and an elderly woman died after E. coli infections linked to McDonald’s Quarterão burger in 10 US states. All of the identified patients said they had eaten at McDonald’s before getting sick, and most specifically mentioned having eaten Quarterão, according to the CDC (United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
The specific ingredient linked to the infection has not yet been identified, but researchers are focusing on fresh sliced onions and beef burgers.. The company is temporarily removing Quarterão from restaurants in the affected area, including Colorado, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming.
E. coli lives naturally in the intestine, and most strains do not cause illness. But there are some types that can cause cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and even kidney failure and death.
