The Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho (PT)stated, this Wednesday (30), that he was never consulted by members of the government about the spending review agenda. According to him, there is no debate in the Executive about cutting benefit resources such as unemployment insurance and salary bonuses.

“If you have never discussed it with me, these measures do not exist. If I am responsible for the issue of work and employment, this debate does not exist, unless the government fires me”, stated the minister.

Asked if he could resign if the measures progress, the minister replied that “if I am attacked, it is possible”.

The minister also said that unemployment insurance and salary bonuses cannot be considered “expenses”. “What is spent? Unnecessary things, if there are unnecessary things you have to cut them”, he assessed.
