Government proposes a 58% increase in the Luz Para Todos budget in 2025, to R$3.95 billion

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) proposed a 58% increase in the budget for the Luz Para Todos program in 2025.

The ministry estimated R$3.95 billion for the initiative, which aims to universalize access to electricity, for next year.

According to the MME, the increase is justified, “mainly, by the need to speed up the universalization process” and by “the greater financial disbursement required due to the large number of new contracts to be signed next year due to the relaunch of the program”, which once again included states such as Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro and Tocantins.

According to a publication in the Official Gazette of the Union, the topic will be submitted to a public consultation until November 22nd. Contributions can be made through the MME website.

The program focuses on serving populations in rural areas and residents in remote regions of the Legal Amazon, who do not have access to public distribution services. For 2025, the goal is to serve 97,112 consumer units, an amount 23% higher than that established in 2024, which was 78,752 units.

The program is one of the components of the Energy Development Account (CDE), which is incorporated into the electricity bill to finance public policies related to the electricity sector.
