Hugo Motta says Trump's victory “causes a moment of euphoria” on the Brazilian right

The federal deputy Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB)candidate for president of the Chamber, stated, this Wednesday (6), that the victory of donald trump in the United States “causes a moment of euphoria” in right-wing movements for the next elections.

Motta, however, avoided commenting on whether the US election result could lead to pressure in favor of the former president’s amnesty. Jair Bolsonaro (PL)Trump ally.

For the leader of the Republicans in the House, Trump’s victory “causes greater encouragement to right-wing movements in the country”.

The magistrate, public enemy number 1 of Bolsonarism, ordered the seizure of the former president’s passport amid investigations into Bolsonaro’s participation in an alleged coup attempt

“The agendas of right-wing movements in the world are quite connected. When there is, from any political leader in a friendly or neighboring country, that there has been a victory for the thought they defend, it causes a moment of euphoria for the country’s next electoral period. It’s natural,” he said.

Asked whether this result could have any concrete impact on the commission that evaluates the amnesty for those prosecuted for the acts of January 8, 2023, Motta avoided it.

Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) met with representatives of the party at Paulinho da Força’s house, in Brasília (DF). Earlier, Rede and PRD also joined the parliamentarian’s candidacy

The deputy assessed, however, that nothing should change in Brazil’s trade relationship with the USA, despite the different positions of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Donald Trump on the ideological spectrum.

“I believe this is the time when Brazil needs to increasingly consolidate its international relations. I do not believe that the country will compromise its relations with the USA for ideological political reasons. We have always defended that the country’s interest is above any partisan interest. Brazil will know how to position itself through Itamaraty”, he concluded.
