Businessman murdered at Guarulhos airport brought R$1 million worth of jewelry in his suitcase

The businessman killed at Guarulhos Airport last Friday (8), Antônio Vinicius Lopes Gritzbach, brought more than R$1 million in jewelry and valuables in his luggage. Items included stone-set rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings from luxury brands such as Bulgari, Cartier and Vivara. According to the police report, there was also a Rolex watch, a pair of gold rings, a cell phone and an Apple notebook. Everything was seized, in addition to R$620 in cash. The material is in possession of the State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP).

Some sources say that Gritzbach went to the capital of Alagoas to collect a debt from an acquaintance. Therefore, the police want to know who the person was who transferred the valuable material and whether the jewelry has any connection with the crime that occurred on Friday afternoon.

The body of the 38-year-old businessman, who was shot 10 times with a rifle, was buried this Sunday (10) at the Parque do Morumbi Cemetery, in the South Zone of São Paulo.

Driver’s death

The app driver who was also hit in the back during the attack, Celso Araújo Sampaio de Novais, aged 41, died this Sunday, leaving behind a wife and three children. On Friday, he even sent a video to the woman after being shot, saying that he had been shot, but that he was already in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. When his wife tried to call again, he no longer answered. Simone Novais also heard a report from a friend of her husband, who accompanied him in the ambulance, and said that his friend was losing a lot of blood. Arriving at the hospital, the driver went into surgery, but did not survive his injuries.

According to Simone, they were married for 21 years and had three children aged 20, 13 and 3 years. Celso Novais’ funeral is scheduled to take place this Monday.

An outsourced airport employee was also hit during the attack, being injured in the hand, and remains under observation in the hospital. The third victim is a 28-year-old woman who was shot in the abdomen, but has since been discharged.
