Pregnant woman had to drive an ambulance while her husband died
An ambulance only appeared 54 minutes later, according to the investigation. While waiting for rescue, the man’s condition worsened.
While the driver was heading to the RVI hospital (Royal Victoria Infirmary), Aaron went into cardiac arrest. At that point, he asked Samantha where the nearest hospital was, and she gave directions to North Durham University Hospital. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
“I was 13 weeks pregnant and my husband was being resuscitated in the back of the ambulance. Why did I have to make the decision about which hospital my husband should be taken to? I have to live with the fact that if I said what RVI, he could still be alive today” Samantha Morris, at the police investigation
Samantha, however, did not blame the driver for the incident, but rather the company. She told officers she believes they should have provided better guidance to their employee. “He made the right decision that day, using what he had, which was me, who lived in the area,” he said.
The investigation into the case was opened in May this year, but was postponed. It was resumed this Tuesday (12). Two police officers, who would have been the first to arrive at the scene of the accident, gave statements. The police continue with the investigations.
