Musk plans to ‘dismantle bureaucracy’ in the Trump administration: ‘That or bankruptcy’

The department will list the “most absurd” expenses and make all its actions public. “Whenever the public thinks we’re cutting something important or failing to cut something unnecessary, just let us know,” Musk wrote on X.

One of the Department’s first actions should be to cut the number of federal agencies. “Do we really need 428 federal agencies? Many of which people have never heard of,” Musk said. “We need a review of which ones are essential. I think we can get rid of 99 of them.”

Musk was a strong presence in Trump’s campaign. His political action committee spent around US$200 million (more than R$1.1 billion) to finance actions and promised to continue promoting the president-elect’s agenda and helping Republicans in the upcoming congressional elections.

Billionaire followed the counting of votes at Trump’s residence, in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. According to reports in the American press, Musk has been advising the Republican on nominations and even participated in a conversation between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week.
