G20: what it is, member countries and how it works, an event chaired by Brazil

The creation of the group had as its central objective the economic stability of the planet, centralizing discussions for political and social improvements. In 2008, due to another global financial crisis, the group made meetings between members regular.

Increase in the scope of topics. In addition to economics, the meeting currently also discusses sustainable development, the environment, health, energy and agriculture.

G20 member countries

The group has 19 member countries. Two associations regional groups are also part of: the African Union and the European Union.

How does it work and what will the themes be?

Presidency is rotating. Each year, a country is chosen to lead the G20. It is up to the country hosting the meeting to formulate the agenda for the period, in addition to being the host of the meeting. The group president also defines what topics will be discussed during the event.
