Uruguay: Lula congratulates Yamandú Orsi, Mujica’s ally, for election

President Lula congratulated Yamandú Orsi, from the Frente Amplio, on his victory in the presidential elections in Uruguay this Sunday. Projections indicate victory for the candidate allied with Pepe Mujica.

“I want to congratulate the Uruguayan people for holding democratic and peaceful elections and, in particular, the elected president @OrsiYamandu, the Frente Amplio and my friend Pepe Mujica for the victory in today’s election”, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“This is a victory for all of Latin America and the Caribbean. Brazil and Uruguay will continue working together in Mercosur and other forums for fair and sustainable development, for peace and in favor of regional integration”, he continued.
