Francois Bayrou, presidente de Pau, foi anunciado como novo primeiro-ministro da França nesta quinta-feira

François Bayrou, a centrist politician, took office this Friday (13) as Prime Minister of France, in a ceremony held at the Hôtel de Matignon, in Paris. Chosen by Emmanuel Macron, Bayrou highlighted his willingness to face the government’s challenges.

What happened

François Bayrou promised “nothing to hide and nothing to neglect” in his government. During his inauguration speech, he emphasized the need for transparency and the elimination of the “glass wall” between citizens and power.

He recognized France’s political and economic challenges. “I don’t ignore the Himalayas that appear before us”, he reiterated. For Bayrou, the country’s deficit reaches 6.1% of GDP, and the debt of 60 billion a year “is a moral problem and not just a financial one”.
