What happened
François Bayrou promised “nothing to hide and nothing to neglect” in his government. During his inauguration speech, he emphasized the need for transparency and the elimination of the “glass wall” between citizens and power.
He recognized France’s political and economic challenges. “I don’t ignore the Himalayas that appear before us”, he reiterated. For Bayrou, the country’s deficit reaches 6.1% of GDP, and the debt of 60 billion a year “is a moral problem and not just a financial one”.
