Stormy Daniels case: judge blocks Trump’s attempt to overturn conviction
A New York judge ruled, this Monday (16), against Donald Trump’s request to annul his conviction for hiding payments to a porn star on the grounds that he enjoyed presidential immunity.
Monday’s decision paves the way for Trump to become the first president to reach the White House with a criminal conviction — he can still appeal.
What happened
Trump was convicted in May of buying Stormy Daniels’ silence for $130,000 to hide an extramarital relationship that could harm him in the 2016 elections. That year, the Republican beat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
