Re-elected mayor of BH, Fuad Noman is discharged from the ICU, but remains hospitalized
The re-elected mayor of Belo Horizonte, Fuad Noman (PSD), was discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he was admitted at Mater Dei Hospital, in the capital of Minas Gerais, this Sunday (22). The medical team stated that Noman had clinical improvement and that all his vital data were normal. Now, doctors say, the mayor continues to recover in a hospital room and is expected to be discharged in the coming days.
Noman has been hospitalized since last Thursday (19), recovering from diarrhea and intestinal bleeding. The new hospitalization occurred four days after he left the same unit, where he spent five days treating bronchitis and sinusitis, being discharged last Sunday. Amid health problems, the chief executive of Belo Horizonte missed his own diploma ceremony on Wednesday (18).
“I couldn’t be present at yesterday’s ceremony, as I would have liked, but I continue to work and recover well so that we can start 2025 with a lot of energy and disposition. Let’s move forward!”, wrote the mayor on his Instagram profile last Thursday, with a photo of the diploma that guarantees that he will be able to take office in January.
The re-elected mayor also underwent hospitalization in November with pain in his legs caused by treatment for cancer of the lymphatic system, known as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The illness was announced in July and, in October, Fuad declared that the treatment had come to an end and he was cured.
