Ciro Nogueira: “If Gusttavo Lima wants to be president, he must have Bolsonaro’s support”
Singer Gusttavo Lima surprised when he revealed his intention to run for President of the Republic, according to the senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI). In an interview, Jair Bolsonaro’s former minister stated that he spoke with the artist, advising him to seek the former president’s support if the decision remains.
“I said that, if he really wants to run, he should have Bolsonaro’s support,” said Nogueira, in a statement to journalist Bela Megale’s column in the newspaper The Globe.
The singer, who is in the United States, called Ciro on January 1st to communicate his political intentions. The relationship between the two is not new. According to the senator, Gusttavo Lima had already shown interest in running for the Senate for Goiás in the 2026 elections, and was even invited to join the PP.

Ciro, however, expressed caution about the possibility of joining Gusttavo Lima to the party for a presidential candidacy.
“I had already invited Gusttavo to go to the PP, to run for the Senate. Now, with the intention of running for the Palace, it is a new thing, which took everyone by surprise. I have to see its viability and also discuss this internally in the party”, he stated.
The senator also denied any relationship between Gusttavo Lima’s announcement and a possible articulation by the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, who is already a pre-candidate for the Presidency.

“I think Caiado had no influence on this decision. I’m 99% sure that this isn’t his articulation”, said Nogueira, adding that, in the governor’s view, “in the first round, there is room for everyone”.
