Israeli soldier Yuval Vagdani, who fled Brazil after being targeted by Brazilian justice for alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip, arrived in Tel Aviv this Wednesday morning (8) and stated that he will not return to Brazilian territory again.

What happened

Soldado explained how he knew “something was happening” during his vacation in Bahia. “I woke up in the morning, opened the phone and suddenly I saw eight calls — the Foreign Ministry, my brothers, my mother, consuls,” he told state broadcaster Kan, according to The Times of Israel. According to Channel 13, from Israel, the soldier managed to leave Brazil, went to Argentina and then to Miami, in the United States and, finally, arrived in Israel.

Yuval landed at Ben Gurion International Airport, near Tel Aviv, and was greeted by family members with hugs. “Everything will be fine. The nation of Israel is alive. My journey is not over, but I will not return there (Brazil).” The official Israeli army radio reported that the Tel Aviv government followed the soldier’s entire journey out of the country.
