Police seize car suspected of having been used in an attack on the MST in the interior of SP

On Monday night (13), the Civil Police seized a vehicle suspected of having been used by the perpetrators of the attack on the settlement of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) in Tremembé (SP), in the Vale do Paraíba region. .

The attack that occurred last Friday (10) left two dead and six injured.

According to the incident report obtained by the Estadãocase investigators received information that one of the cars used in the crime was hidden in an empty lot in Parque Aeroporto, Taubaté neighborhood, a city neighboring Tremembé.

The police set up a vigil in front of the place, which was closed with a metal gate and surrounded by wood. During the observation, they noticed the suspicious movement of a man running inside the land and immediately entered the place to try to approach him.

According to the police report, due to poor lighting and the existence of an exit at the back of the property, the suspect managed to escape without being identified.

While searching for the suspect, the police located a white VW Gol with its license plate covered, hidden in the bush. An examination of the vehicle was requested to look for fingerprints. The car was seized and taken to the accredited yard for investigation procedures.

The attack on the Olga Benário settlement resulted in the death of two members of the movement: Valdir Nascimento, known as Valdirzão, aged 52, and Gleison Barbosa, known as Guegue, aged 28. MST leaders who witnessed the attack speak of at least ten criminals, but so far the police have only arrested one suspect: Antônio Martins dos Santos Filho, known as “Nero do Piseiro”. He is identified by the investigation as the mastermind of the crime.

On Sunday (12), the court ordered the preventive arrest of Nero and Ítalo Rodrigues da Silva, identified as his accomplice. Until Tuesday morning, however, Ítalo remained at large.

The Civil Police are trying to identify others involved in the attack. The main line of investigation is that the crime was motivated by the dispute over one of the settlement’s lots.
