Immigrants go to the US even after Trump’s actions: ‘We hope to enter’
The Republican agent disabled CBP One, an application that allowed immigrants to schedule asylum interviews before they approached the border.
Other foreigners chose to abandon Tapachula, a border city with Guatemala in the Mexican state of Chiapas, due to lack of employment.
“The situation here is difficult, there is no tapachula work,” said Omar Ávila, 25-year-old Venezuelan who left his home country following his ex-wife.
The woman started the trip to the United States with her two children, a girl and a boy, and arrived in Chicago with only one of them: the girl died dragged by the river current in the jungle of Darién, on the border between Colombia and Panama.
Gerardo Yépez, another 37 -year -old Venezuelan, thinks of trying his luck in Mexico City or even thinks about seeing “how to return” to his country.
In just one week in power, Trump ordered several measures against illegal immigration, including deportations, sending thousands of soldiers to the southern border and the arrest of 538 people in an irregular situation, according to the White House.
