Brazil announces agreement with USA to exchange information about deported

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) announced on Wednesday (29) the creation of a working group (WG) with the United States Embassy in Brasilia to exchange information about the deported Brazilians and the operationalization of deportation flights . According to MRE, the measure aims to ensure “the security and decent and respectful treatment of passengers.”

The forecast is for immediate establishment of a direct line of communication between group members and allowing real -time follow -up of the next flights.

The proposal to create the WG had been discussed yesterday, at a meeting of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with ministers at the Planalto Palace, when the government announced that it will set up a humanitarian hosting post at Confins International Airport, Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region , in Minas Gerais, to receive Brazilians deported from the US. The site was chosen because it is the terminal where flights chartered by the US government are being destined over the last few years.

I want my access

Government mobilization occurs days after a deportation flight with 88 Brazilians have suffered a number of problems, with handcuffed passengers all the time, reports of aggression by US agents, deprivation of food and bathroom access, as well as problems Technicians who have impaired the operation of the air conditioning and forced the aircraft to make unparalleled stops.

In one of these connections in Manaus on Friday (24), the Federal Police determined that the handcuffs be removed and passengers were allocated on another Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane to the mining capital, where they arrived on Saturday ( 25). This was the first wave of Brazilians deported since the inauguration of President Donald Trump, who promised zero tolerance with illegal immigration in the country.

On Monday (27), the secretary of Brazilian communities abroad and consular and legal matters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Márcia Loureiro, met with the in charge of business of the US Embassy in Brazil, Gabriel Escobar, to treat about the deportation of Brazilians. The call for Itamaraty Palace is a diplomatic gesture that expresses discontent from one country with another.
