Flight controllers were missing at the time of an accident in Washington, says Jornal

According to the newspaper, the lack of personnel in US airport control towers is an old problem. Citing a report of the air traffic controller’s workforce plan, referred annually to Congress, Ronald Reagan airport should have 30 professionals working, but in September 2023 only 19.

Faa did not respond to the commentary request made by the newspaper.

The accident

Shock between this Wednesday aircraft left 67 dead in total. The plane carried 60 passengers and four crew, while the military helicopter took three soldiers on board. No one survived. The wreckage of the two aircraft fell on the Potomac River, which had already registered a plane crash in January 1982

Accident has been the deadliest in US history since 2001. On November 12 of that year, an American Airlines plane crashed into a residential neighborhood of New York minutes after taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport. Tragedy 24 years ago killed 260 people on board and five on the ground
